Raising fishing worms

How to keep fishing worms alive for fishing most fishermen suggest that you use red or night crawlers worms. They are also called fishing worms, earth worms.
You can start with some shredded newspaper, moistened,or any paper similar to newspaper. Use the black and white pages do not use any paper with color ink. Add a couple of handfuls of garden soil or fine dirt not clay its to hard and lumpy, not potting soil, and a couple of crushed egg shells. Keep the bedding wet but not soaked. The moisture helps them to breathe, but too much water will drown the worms, just practice with the dampness until you get it right.
You can feed your worms fruit and vegetable scraps and starchy scraps, like bread, oatmeal, and pasta.

Shelter when camping

Tie off the hood of the poncho. Pull the drawstring tight, roll the hood long ways, fold it into thirds, and tie it off with the drawstring. Cut the rope in half. On one long side of the poncho, tie half of the rope to the corner grommet. Tie the other half to the other corner grommet.
Attach a drip stick  about a 10-centimeter stick  to each rope about 2.5 centimeters from the grommet. These drip sticks will keep rainwater from running down the ropes into the lean-to. Tying strings (about 10 centimeters long) to each grommet along the poncho's top edge will allow the water to run to and down the line without dripping into the shelter.   Tie the ropes about waist high on the trees  uprights . Use a round turn and two half hitches with a quick-release knot.

Spread the poncho and anchor it to the ground, putting sharpened sticks through the grommets and into the ground.
If you plan to use the lean-to for more than one night, or you expect rain, make a center support for the lean-to. Make this support with a line. Attach one end of the line to the poncho hood and the other end to an overhanging branch. Make sure there is no slack in the line.Another method is to place a stick upright under the center of the lean-to. This method, however, will restrict your space and movements in the shelter.

Spiders like to hide in these areas

Ticks in the west can carry Colorado Fever and Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever. Ticks are a threat early in the summer, and after vegetation has grown. They become rare at the end of summer and into winter. If you are backpacking or hiking make sure to check yourself several times for ticks. Try and avoid tall grass and shrubbery areas ticks love to hide there. You should not use alcohol, nail polish, hot matches, petroleum jelly  to remove ticks this can make the tick bite worse.

If you have Benadryl or another antihistamine, these can control the swelling caused by some insect bites.  If you are bitten by a spider suck as the black widow spider  it will  feel like a pin prick .  You should watch the area for redness and swelling about an hour after the bite. Bee and wasp stings sometime leave in the stinger so it needs to be remove carefully.   When you are camping or hiking you should not turn over logs and stones. Spiders like to hide in these areas and will bite if they feel threaten. Make sure to look in your boots or shoes before you head out on a hike.

Saint Lawrence River

The St.Lawrence River is famous for smallmouth and largemouth bass fishing. Both Alex Bay and Clayton downtown districts are designated by the U.S. Federal Registry as Historic with buildings and houses from the late 1800s. The entire area along the St.lawrence river is where you can fish for northern pike, walleye and muskie. If you don't have a boat there are several marina's that rent out fishing boats.
Fisherman can buy bait and obtain their fishing licenses at the 1000 island bait store located near the 1000 island bridge to Canada. Many of the marina's also sell bait and fishing licenses. Also located near the bridge is the 1000 island winery which has a large selection of wines from the region.   Another great attraction is the Uncle Sam boat tour in Alexandria bay. There are several different tours you can take around the river and see all the different islands. Many of the island have homes owned by movie stars and millionaires from around the world. Make sure if you take a tour to visit Singer Castle on Dark Island there have been several movies shot in the castle.  Alexandria Bay

Bass fishing St. Lawrence River

Likely due to the late spring in the north country the bass are still spawning in the St. Lawrence River. The smallmouth are bedding in 10-15 feet of water and are very easy to catch just by randomly casting on spawning flats. Water temperature now on the main channel is in the mid 60's with 70's in backwater areas.

I conducted two guided trips on June 24 and June 28 that averaged approximately 15-20 bass. The largest smallmouth was almost 5 pounds with several over 3 pounds. Some appeared to even be pre-spawn. The channel water temperature the first trip was only 61 degrees in the morning. The bass were caught on tubes and senkos in shallow water and released.

They may spawn well into July this year. And when they are done, they usually will dissappear from the shallows very quickly. Some areas of the river do seem to be post-spawn already, but in other areas the shallows are active.

Book on tuna fishing secrets

I just want to say how much I enjoyed your book on tuna fishing secrets. I run a small fishing charter boat out of Mission Bay now that I've retired from my legal profession on the east coast. I'm not exactly famous in local circles, but after reading your book I understand so much more now about finding and attracting tuna.  The fishing trips for my customers have produced more tuna in the past few months than I had caught in 2 years. This has enabled me to gather stories from happy fisherman to promote my business and gain more customers.

I'm surprised you're selling the book so cheaply, I would have paid 3 times the asking price! Perhaps my advice can help your business just as your advice has helped mine Since the first time I caught a yellowfin tuna as a young boy alongside my brother, I knew that tuna fishing would be something I'd be hooked on for the rest of my life! Not every 11 year old kid gets to see a 250kg yellowfin up close and personal, so you can imagine why it stuck in my head and made such a big impression. What fishermen are calling the best tuna fishing guide ever written. Action packed with exciting stories and insider secrets from tuna fisherman and charter boat skippers. Aimed at everyday users to teach them how to find, attract and catch tuna!

rivers and streams to catch big smallmouth

Avoid fine-wire hooks which can be easily straightened by a big bass. Use thin-wire hooks on light line because they penetrate better on softer hook-sets.  In the summer, when bass are hitting crankbaits in the morning and then stop, switch to a grub.
Concentrate on what the bait is doing. It's hard to tell the difference between grass or moss and a bite. Rocks, wood and solid objects are easier to feel.  The easiest way to get hung up is to pull hard when you're working through cover such as fallen trees. Jiggle the lure through instead.  Use Kalin's 3-inch Salty Lunker grubs in rivers and streams to catch big smallmouth. Fish them in weeds and rocks. In weeds, cast your grub into the weedbed an drag it back to the weed edge.
